Carlos Alberto Mattos Presiden Of Jury

Is film critic and researcher since 1978. He has worked for Tribuna da Imprensa, IstoÉ, O Pasquim, Jornal do Brazil, O Estado de S. Paulo, O Globo and for the site no.com.br. Carlos Mattos is a member and former president of the Association of Film Critics in Rio de Janeiro. He participated as a jury of the critics in the festivals of Venice, Berlin and Moscow, among others. He is the author of books on Brazilian filmmakers Walter Lima Jr., Eduardo Coutinho, Carla Camurati, Jorge Bodansky, Maurice Capovilla and Vladimir Carvalho. He researched and wrote the texts to Animation Now (Taschen). He was one of founders of the magazine Cinemais and coordinator of cinema and video to CCBB-Rio, between 1989 and 1997. Currently, he is critic of the website criticos.com.br, has the blog www.carmattos.wordpress.com and is writer to the magazine Filme Cultura. He created and maintained, between 2006 and 2008, the DocBlog, first regular and specialized space in documentaries on the Brazilian Internet, in the website O Globo. Carlos Mattos was the director, for the Brazil Channel, of the program Jurandyr Noronha – Tesouros Quase Perdidos (2010).

Andreas Valentin
Phographer, Designer, Degree in Cinema

In 57 years old, holds a Doctorate in Social History by the Federal University of Rio de Janeiro. Master of Art of Science by the Fluminense Federal University and graduated in Art History and Cinema by the Swarthmore College, Pennsylvania, USA. He is also the coordinator and professor of graduate courses at the Institute of Humanities at the “Universidade Candido Mendes”. Assistant Professor of photography at the “Colégio de Aplicação” of the State University of Rio de Janeiro. Photographer, filmmaker and researcher, he was a student and collaborator of the artist Helio Oiticica. In the 1970s, he made experimental films in Super8, which were awarded at festivals in Brazil and abroad. Between 1980 and 2000, he surveyed, photographed and filmed the Amazon, resulting in a collection of more than twenty-five thousand photos and hours of video. Author of three books about the “Parintins” Folk Festival: “Contrários: a Celebração da Rivalidade dos Bois-Bumbás de Parintins” (2005) (Opponents: The Celebration of Rivalry of the Bois-Bumbás from Parintins), “Vermelho, um Pessoal Garantido” (1998) (The Red Ones, Guaranteed People) and “Caprichoso, a Terra é Azul” (Caprichoso, the Earth is Blue (2000), and also the book “SAARA Rio de Janeiro” (2010) (SAHARA Rio de Janeiro). He was the project coordinator of FUNARTE and production assistant and direction of the film "Fitzcarraldo," by Werner Herzog. He is an effective member of the "Associação Brasileira de Antropologia” (Brazilian Association of Anthropology) that in 2004 awarded him the Pierre Verger Photography Award. He has had numerous solo exhibitions of photographs and works as a curator.

Jaime Lerner
Director, Screenwriter

Is graduated in Cinema and Television from the Academy of Cinema Beit-Zvi in Israel. Currently, he is director, writer and director of photography. He is president of APTC/ABD-RS-, Advisor to FUNDACINE-RS and member of the Advisory Committee of the SAV-MINC. He has several films, medium and short films, as director. His most recent short, UNDERGROUND was awarded at several festivals in Brazil and abroad. Now he is upon ending his third documentary feature film, REFERENDUM, on the referendum of firearms that occurred in 2005.
