Beto Brant
Director
(São Paulo - Brazil)


Born in Jundiaí in 1964. In 1995, He directed “The Killers” (Os Matadores), shot in the frontier of Brazil and Paraguai. “Action between friends” (Ações entre amigos, 1998) tells the story of an ex-guerrilla man who meets himself 25 years later. “The Invader” (O Invasor, 2002), based on the book of Marçal Aquino, portrays the crime and the violence as contamination points between social classes. ‘Delicate Crime” (Crime Delicado, 2005) is an adaptation of the romance of Sérgio Sant’anna and tells the story of a love affair that shows mechanism of control and manipulation. Together with Renato Ciasca, in 2007, he directed “Street dog” (Cão sem dono) whose screenplay was adapted from the book “Till the day the god died” (Até o dia que o cão morreu) by Daniel Galera. Currently, he launched the film “Love according to B. Schianberg” (O Amor Segundo B. Schianberg), an adaptation to the cinema from the TV series produced by Drama Films, TV Cultura and SESC TV.

 

 

 

Cesar Cabral
Animator

Graduated in Film and Video from the School of Communications and Arts - University of São Paulo (ECA-USP) since 1997, and he has been working in the audiovisual sector. He is business partner of the producing company ‘Coala Movies’, with special focus on animation ; he has animated and directed several works for advertising, cinema and television. In addition television documentary, his last major work was the short film ‘Dossier Rê Bordosa’(Dossiê Rê Bordosa), winner of the 5th Amazonas Film Festival.

 

 

 

Hernani Heffner
Professor, Researcher, Critic and Curator

He is the conservative Chief of the Cinematheque of the Modern Art Museum in Rio de Janeiro. He is the coordinator of the restoration of the film collection of ‘Cinédia film studios’, and he is responsible for the recovery of films such as ‘The Drunkard, Hello, Hello, Carnival and Women’ (O Ébrio, Alô, Alô, Carnaval e Mulher). He teaches in the following movies courses: Catholic University of Rio de Janeiro, Fundação Getúlio Vargas (Specialization in Documentary), and CINETV-PR from the College of Arts of Paraná. He has participated in the Selection’s Commission of the programming of short films of the Festival of Brasilia in 2003. He was the curator for the showcases ‘Mirages of the interior’ (Miragens do Sertão - CCBB-2003), ‘The Open Screen’ (A Tela Aberta - CCBB-2005), ‘Roots of the twenty first Century’ (Raízes do Século XXI - Caixa Cultural, 2007) and is Curator of the ‘Cine Music Festival’ (Conservatory-RJ) since 2007.

 

 

Marta Machado
Producer and Journalist

She is a professional journalist and a founding member of ‘Snif Snif Movies’, associate production company of ‘Otto Cartoons’ (Ottos Desenhos Animados). She is currently president of the ABCA - Brazilian Association of Animation Film. Along with ‘Otto Cartoons’ she prepares the third long film of the production company, ‘Escape in D minor to KRAUNUS and PLETSKAYA’ (Fuga em Ré Menor para Kraunus e Pletskaya), awarded by RGE, BNDES and Petrobras, besides the series ‘Good Night, Martha’, in partnership with Vivian Altman.

 

 

Sofia Federico
Journalist, Screenwriter, Director and graduated in Social Communication.

She has been working in the audiovisual area since 1995, and has directed many films and videos. With the short film “ Blind drought” (Cega Seca) she received more than ten awards in national festivals and the indication, in 2004, to the Brazilian Academy of Cinema Award as best production in short film of 2003. She received the same indication in 2006 with the short “Red Color of the Palate” (Vermelho Rubro do Céu da Boca). Currently, she is the director of Audiovisual office of the Cultural Foundation of Bahia State.
Louise Monot
Atriz
(France)                                      

Louise Monot was a model when she met her first cinema agent. She won a model contest when she was 15 years old, and then started acting in TV shows. Today she is part of the new French talented generation. She starred in “I do: how to get married and stay single” (2006) by Eric Lartigau and in “Hell” (2006) directed by Bruno Chiche, before she was revealed in “OSS 117: Lost in Rio” (2009), the French hit of the year directed by Michel Hazanavicius, taking place in Rio de Janeiro and starring famous French actor Jean Dujardin. Louise Monot recently played in Guillaume Canet’s latest film as a director “Les petits mouchoirs”.

Claire Denis
Director & Screenwriter

Born in Paris, Claire Denis passed her youth in Djibouti, Cameroon and Burkina Faso. Graduate from IDHEC (La Fémis - French cinema school), she worked as an assistant for directors such as Jacques Rivette, Jim Jarmusch and Wim Wenders. In 1988, she made her directorial debut with “Chocolate” selected at the Cannes Film Festival. In 1994, she directed “I Can’t Sleep” with Line Renaud and two years later she won the Golden Leopard in Locarno for her film “Nenette & Boni”. In 1999, her film “Good work” was presented in official selection in Venice. In 2001, she directed “Trouble Every Day” starring Béatrice Dalle, Vincent Gallo and Alex Descas. Recently, she worked with famous French actors Isabelle Huppert and Christopher Lambert for her latest film “White Material” screened in competition in Venice.
