Provincial Palace
The Provincial Palace, former Police headquarters, that integrates the architect complex of “Heliodoro Balbi” square, is a shelter for important museums from Amazonas, the Piece of Art Restoring Atelier and the Paper Atelier. In its basement is the Alfredo Mendonça de Souza Archeology Lab, the Saint Jorge Bar, the Memory Cell and the Newton Aguiar Arts Arena, destined to live performances of music, dance, theater and cinema.
On the ground floor is the José Bernardo Michilles room (temporary exhibition), The “Café do Pina”, the State Picture Gallery, The Amazon Image and Sound Museum and the Piece of Art Restoring Atelier and the Paper Atelier.
Besides those rooms, the halls are decorated with great master pieces. In those halls the visitors can contemplate pieces of the exhibition “Sculptures of the World” which are official and certified copies of the existing originals in the Louvre Museum in Paris. At the top of the original walls visitors can see the Registering Medals of the Military Police Groups from the other units of the Brazilian Federation, with the existing denominations in 1895.
