Rio Negro Palace Cultural Centre
It was built at the beginning of the XX century to be the private residence of rubber tradesmen, and it was then acquired by the government to become the head office of Executive Power, and a residence for the governor. In 1997, due to its architectonic beauty and historic value, the State Government made it a cultural centre - Rio Negro Palace Cultural Centre - with open space to recitals, erudite and instrumental music, exhibits, book's launching, besides other cultural activities. The Secretariat for Culture has traced a new format to Rio Negro Palace, being helped by consultancy of experts from Centro Cultural Banco do Brasil (Brazil Bank Cultural Centre). This new design is adequate to all types of exhibits, and it aggregates the Amazonas Library-Museum of image and Sound, the Numismatic Museum Bernardo Ramos, the State Gallery, and the Guarany Movie Theatre. |
